South African Ambassador in Doha: Defending Palestine is a humanitarian issue
The Ambassador of South Africa in Doha, Ghulam Hussein Asmal, has said that his country opened a case to defend Palestine before the International Court of Justice against the invading Israeli regime that continues to kill the people of the Gaza Strip since the seventh of October last year with the intention of acting right, stressing that there is no reason to abandon the issue.
Ambassador Asmal has emphasized the need for reforms in the United Nations and the Security Council to implement the desired justice in the world. He said: "It is not acceptable to have nations that are above the law and other nations that international law is used against. The United Nations must carry out its responsibilities seriously. There is a need to carry out major reforms within the Security Council and not allow certain countries to be given the protection of member countries of the Security Council and abandoned other countries."
He explained that his country has demonstrated to the world that the issue of Palestine is not a religious issue nor a conflict between Muslims and Jews, as the number of Muslims in his country does not exceed 2% of the total population, but the basis of the issue is human.
The Ambassador of South Africa in Qatar has also stated that his country supports the demands of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations, indicating the legitimacy of the request, and that it is the right of the Palestinians that should be supported by all countries of the world.
He has also asked the International Court of Justice to carry out its duties regarding the court's decisions against Israel, and to do the work it was created for.
