Chinese Ambassador: We Want Türkiye to Join the BRICS

  The Chinese ambassador to Turkey, said that the Beijing government wanted Ankara to join the BRICS. Liu Shaobin, Saturday (2/9/2023) said, the addition of BRICS members increases self-confidence and solidarity among members, and China wants Turkey to join BRICS. He added, "The process of expanding BRICS membership has started since the era of China's leadership in this group, at that time more than 20 countries submitted applications to join BRICS and six of them were accepted. The expansion of BRICS membership was welcomed by the international community." The Chinese ambassador to Turkey continued, "China wants Turkey to join the BRICS group." "It is hoped that BRICS will grow with developing countries, and the expansion of BRICS creates self-confidence, strengthens solidarity among members and is very important for international justice," he added. At the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa some time ago, six countries were accepted as new members namely Iran, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. (HS)
