Erdogan: Hamas is not a terrorist organization, they defend their homeland
Turkey's president said he had canceled his visit to the occupied territories, saying Hamas, not a terrorist organization, was fighting to liberate his homeland.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Wednesday (25/10/2023), as quoted by the Anadolu news agency, emphasized that Hamas is not a terrorist organization but a "liberation army" fighting for the homeland and the Palestinian people. At the same time, Erdogan admitted that he had canceled his planned visit to the occupied territories. "We had good intentions regarding Israel, but they abused our good intentions, and I have canceled my visit to Israel," he said. According to the Turkish President, there are differences between the Jews and the Zionists. He said, "The Jewish people know very well that Turkey is the only region where for centuries there has been no anti-Semitism in it."
Erdogan added, "The United States will lose, because it does not want a just world. About half of those who died in Israel's attacks on Gaza were children, and this proves the purpose of their deliberate involvement in crimes against humanity." "Turkey has absolutely no problem with the Israeli government, but it will never justify Israel's crimes, and the way it operates as a group, not a state," he added. The Turkish President emphasized that his country's relations with Israel could be normalized, but Ankara did not see any reciprocal steps from Israel.
