McDonald's, the American fast food giant infamous for being a supporter of Israel, has recently withdrawn from its longstanding position. According to Russia Today, the McDonald's restaurant chain, given its support for Israel, has encountered an unprecedented downturn in its Middle Eastern market and beyond. The financial ramifications resulting from the boycotts of Israeli goods have taken such a toll that to mitigate the adverse impact, McDonald's found itself compelled to release an official statement, saying it does not support either party embroiled in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The outbreak of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, along with the emergence of various social campaigns, most notably the BDS movement, aiming at economically isolating Israel, has caused significant financial losses for companies supporting Israel. Activists hope to halt the Israeli killing machine in Palestine by incurring significant losses on those companies supporting Israel and damaging the economy of the Israeli apartheid regime.
