France, no to pension reform
The sixth day of national demonstration and "inter-professional" strike was characterized by a record mobilization: 1.28 million participants according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior, three and a half million according to the CGT. About 300 demonstrations throughout France, with quite substantial numbers even in smaller urban centers and rural areas. On Wednesday 8 March, many of the sectors that went on strike on the 7th will extend union action. These included railway workers – with a unanimous vote of all four representative unions – and RAPT (Paris metro and bus) drivers. The workers of the nuclear plants - just under a dozen - had been mobilized since last Friday. Ports were blocked on Tuesday, and will continue to be on Wednesday. This is only a partial, hot picture. In summary, France has been blocked and will continue to be.
