Gaza Ceasefire: A Bitter Defeat for Israel

After enduring 45 days of an unequal war, a ceasefire was finally declared in Gaza. However, analysts perceive even this temporary truce as a significant defeat for Israel. Despite being the fourth-largest army in the world, Israel initially declared its goal as the complete destruction of Hamas, only to now engage in a prisoner exchange deal with the Palestinian resistance group. One of the most intriguing aspects of the prisoner exchange deal was the fact that the departure of Israeli captives occurred from the northern part of Gaza, a region that the Israeli army claims to have cleared of Hamas fighters. Israel has not been able to accomplish many of its military objectives even after 45 days, suggesting that the war in Gaza is approaching its conclusion. Yet, this merely marks the beginning of Netanyahu's nightmare as he faces strong opposition from the public within occupied Palestine.
