ICC: We condemn US sanctions on our prosecutor

The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, has issued a statement condemning the Donald Trump administration's move to impose sanctions on the court's Prosecutor, Karim Khan.

The ICC statement stressed: "We are committed to continuing our legal obligations in the interests of the millions of innocent victims of crimes."

The International Criminal Court added: "We call on all countries of the world and civil society to unite to ensure that justice is served at the international level."

Last Thursday, Trump issued an executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), based in the Netherlands, in support of and in support of the Zionist regime of Israel, while the regime's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, was in Washington, DC.

Netamyahu and his former Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, are wanted by the court to answer charges of committing genocide, committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip.

Last Friday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized US President Donald Trump's decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court, calling it a wrong move.

Scholz acknowledged that the sanctions jeopardize the functioning of an institution that is supposed to ensure that dictators around the world cannot oppress people and start wars.

NBC Television also reported that 79 countries, including Canada, Germany, France, South Africa and Mexico, declared in a joint statement that Trump's move to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court undermines the rule of international law.
