Increase in US government debt

Increase in US government debt

The International Monetary Fund announced that the US national debt is skyrocketing. Currently, the US national debt has exceeded $31.6 trillion and will soon reach $32 trillion. The IMF announced that the increase in interest rates is one of the factors that increase the US national debt.

According to his report, in the coming years, the upward trend in US government debt will continue due to the increase in government borrowing in this country. In 2022, the ratio of US public debt to the country's gross domestic product was 121.7%, in other words, the country's public debt was 1.217 times its GDP.The International Monetary Fund predicts that the US public debt will rise to 122.2% this year and reach 136.2% by 2028.

IMF experts believe that a significant part of the growth in US public debt is associated with an increase in White House spending in healthcare, social security, clean energy development projects and other domestic economic projects of the country.
