Lavrov: Macron persuaded America to send troops to Kiev
Russian Foreign Minister said that the French President is trying to persuade the USA and NATO members to send Western troops to Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron's statements last month about the possible deployment of NATO forces to Ukraine became so controversial that they came under criticism from officials in various countries, RT news agency reported.
According to Sputnik news agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the following in the documentary he prepared on the 25th anniversary of NATO's invasion of Yugoslavia:
"Macron's statements about sending NATO troops to Ukraine are no longer about strategic autonomy, he wants to satisfy the USA and NATO members on this issue."
Lavrof also emphasized the following:
“Current European leaders do not see national interests as a priority. Europe has become completely dependent on the USA. “There is no such thing as independence.”
