Malaysia Announces Solidarity with the Palestinian People
The Prime Minister of Malaysia said that his country remained in solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people. Anwar Ibrahim, Sunday (8/10/2023) as quoted by The Star website, criticized the international community for their unfair attitude regarding cruelty and oppression against the Palestinian people. "This injustice caused hundreds of innocent people's lives to become victims," said the Malaysian PM, on his X account. Previously, the Malaysian government had urged that the root cause of the violence occurring in the Gaza Strip be found. The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The Palestinian people have been the target of prolonged illegal occupation, the target of blockade and the object of suffering, the desecration of the Al Aqsa Mosque, as well as the policy of expropriation by Israel, as the occupier."
He added, "In a critical situation like now, loss of life, suffering of society and greater destruction must be stopped, and all parties must exercise restraint and de-escalate the conflict." The Malaysian government admits it is concerned by the latest violence in the Middle East, and urges the UN Security Council to take responsibility for carrying out its mandate to maintain international peace and security. According to the Malaysian government, the Palestinian people have the right under international law to live peacefully in the pre-1967 border area with Al Quds as its capital.
