The military leaders who rule Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger have entered into a new "federation" after yesterday signing an agreement at their first meeting of the Leaders of the Sahel Union (AES) in Niamey, the capital of Niger, after cutting ties with the Ecowas Community . It will be remembered that these countries that make up the Sahel alliance withdrew from the ECOWAS community at the beginning of this year.
The heads of the three countries that came to power through a military coup have taken steps to establish the Sahel Union (AES) which will gather at least 72 million people.
Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso said in January this year that they are withdrawing from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS); a community that they accuse of being indebted to France, the country of the past century.
All three countries have severed their military and defense ties with France while focusing on establishing strong ties with Russia.
