On the visit of the President of Venezuela to China

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro went to China to intensify bilateral relations, strengthen cooperation and help create a new world order. Describing this visit as historic on his page on the X sharing site after arriving in Shenzhen in southern China, Maduro emphasized that he went to China to "strengthen cooperation and build a new world order". Venezuelan President Nikolas Maduro's visit to China took place after a delegation of the Vice President and Oil Minister held talks in Shanghai with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, as well as the top officials of this country. Maduro's deputy, Delcy Rodrigez, in a message shared on her account on the X network, pointed out that bilateral relations are developing, stressing that the two countries seek to strengthen bilateral relations, strategic cooperation and joint global initiatives in favor of international peace, and that they respect the goals and principles of the UN charter.

Venezuela is one of the countries that has been exposed to the sanctions policy of the USA in recent years. These sanctions target Venezuela's political and economic sectors and are being applied to pressure this country to overthrow the Maduro administration and bring a pro-Washington government to power. The US sanctions have brought Venezuelan economy into a difficult situation. According to the President of Venezuela, since 2015, this country has lost 29 billion dollars every year due to the international sanctions imposed on oil companies. These sanctions have also seriously damaged the country's food and pharmaceutical industry. So much so that the officials of this country describe the US sanctions as a kind of blackmail. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan administration has left the crises behind by further developing its relations with countries such as Russia, China and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the last year and is now trying to improve relations and form a political and economic bloc against Washington's sanctions.

In this context, Venezuela's relations with China are of particular importance for both countries. In fact, with this cooperation, China benefits from Venezuela's oil, while Venezuela benefits from China's technologies and investments. In fact, at the point reached, the Maduro administration, getting closer to China and Russia, established a new cooperation bloc in a period when leftist governments came to power in many Latin American countries. After this bloc gets stronger, there will be a change in the global order. In this direction, Maduro stated in his statement a while ago that a new era is on the way and he is trying to establish a strong bloc in the Latin America and Caribbean region, and that such a political bloc can become a "new strong axis" with the cooperation of Russia and China. In fact, the interventionist policies of the USA have caused various countries to try to separate themselves from the policies of the USA and to establish new blocs and unions that are independent of the US policy and dollar, and to strengthen their independence. The establishment of BRICS and the welcome of various countries to join this group is proof of this argument.

Erick Farnez Worth, Head of the Office of the Council of the Americas, says in this context: The two main parties in the US are concerned about Washington's lack of a commercial plan in Latin America. The United States should compete economically in the Western hemisphere, but we are not competing effectively. According to the announced data and figures, China's trade with Latin American countries increased from 12 billion dollars in 2000 to 495 billion dollars in 2022, and today China has become the largest trading partner of South America. At the current stage, it is seen that more practical steps are being taken towards the establishment of new economic blocs, with Maduro's visit to China and the warm welcome of Beijing officials to the development of relations with this country.
