Pakistan-Russia: Consultation of officials on security challenges and overcoming global terrorism
The tenth meeting of the Pakistan-Russia working group was held in Islamabad with the presence of the deputy foreign ministers of the two countries. According to Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan Seyyed Haider Shah and Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Vershinin regarding the latest level of bilateral cooperation in the military and security fields, focusing on the issues of Afghanistan, Asia Central and North Africa: managing international terrorism threats, security challenges the region and cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization were discussed. Officials of Pakistan and Russia agreed to strengthen joint efforts to effectively combat terrorism and terrorist financing and underlined the mutual benefits of such cooperation. Relations between Islamabad and Moscow have grown significantly in recent years, despite Western obstructionism and US obstructionism, and Pakistan and Russia have continued to strengthen joint cooperation in various situations, including the change of government.
