Police India closes Kashmir's Grand Mosque to prevent pro-Palestinian protests
Hundreds of Indian police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in key areas of Kashmir to prevent any pro-Palestinian protests. According to the Broadcasting Agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran India24 from Kashmir, the Indian police have closed the Great Mosque of Kashmir, which is the largest mosque in the region, and put its Imam under house arrest. Manzoor Ahmad, a citizen of Kashmir who always attends Friday prayers in the mosque said: "People come from far away to come to the mosque here. It is sad to see that the police have closed this mosque." Ahmad continued to explain, "since the beginning of the Zionist attacks against Gaza, the situation in Kashmir has been like this. The Indian administrative authorities have announced that they are temporarily closing the Great Mosque to maintain order and law. The people of this area say, this decision of the Indian authorities you can't stand it". Ahmed Bet, a citizen of the Srinagar area, said: "followers of all religions should live together and in safety.
We also pray for peace and security to last in the community. Unfortunately, the authorities do not respect the elders and believers who pray here. The government should stop this trend and open this historic mosque." The Indian government's decision to close the historic mosque located in the center of Srinagar city is due to the concern of a pro-Palestinian protest. However, the voice of the people who oppose the crimes of the Zionists has not been silenced and the people of Kashmir have protested against the Zionist regime of Israel. Mehbooba Mufti, the former minister of Jammu and Kashmir said: "When only two children were killed in Ukraine in two years, the whole world defended them and supported them, but when thousands of Palestinians have been martyred in just a few days, there is no voice of anyone heard. We ask the heads of all countries to force the Zionist regime to stop the killings in Gaza". Waqar Rasool, head of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress Party said: "The government does not allow protests and we condemn this move by the government." According to Rasool, the citizens of Srinagar expect to hear the screams of the name of Palestine and chants of Allahu Akbar in the city's Friday Prayer.
