Politico: US Government Believes Netanyahu Will Not Last Long
US media, Politico, Wednesday (1/11/2023) reported that news of the political death of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu had been heard for a long time, and the White House government had also been considering potential successors. US President Joe Biden and his aides have discussed the possibility of an imminent end to Netanyahu's political career, and Biden has conveyed this to the Israeli PM recently. The issue of Netanyahu's short political lifespan has been discussed repeatedly in White House meetings attended by Biden, and includes themes discussed during the US President's visit to the Occupied Territories. Citing two US officials, Politico added, "Biden even went so far as to suggest that Netanyahu should think about what lessons to teach his successor." Joe Biden believes that Netanyahu does not have much chance of remaining in power, and the White House estimates that Netanyahu will last several months or at least until the first phase of the Gaza war ends. "On his trip to the region, Biden advised Netanyahu to think about a scenario regarding his successor which implicitly means that Netanyahu may not last long," said Politico. (HS)
