Putin sets conditions for US to resume arms supply to Ukraine

In parallel with trying to show that the US position has changed regarding Russia, US President Donald Trump is currently planning to send a new shipment of weapons to Ukraine to continue the war with Russia, demonstrating the same daily politics of the two faces of the US.

Reuters has reported that the United States is planning to provide Ukraine with a new batch of long-range weapons, such as ground-launched small bombs (GLSDBs). These improved weapons are designed to counter Russian electronic warfare and could help Ukraine target targets more accurately.

The move comes amid reports that Ukraine's stockpile of the US-made ATACMS missile system, another long-range weapon supplied to Ukraine, has been depleted.

Two sources familiar with the matter, who did not want their names to be published in the media, told Reuters that the new bombs were specially designed to counter Russian electronic warfare, which has so far put Ukraine in a difficult position by repeatedly disrupting its military systems.

Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was badly damaged by war

The United States has decided to supply Ukraine with new weapons, even as Donald Trump, who is clearly seen fanning the flames of war, claimed on Thursday that he welcomes peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. He claimed that he and his advisers have discussed various issues on how to end the war in Ukraine.

Trump has said the talks could lead to changes to the international border between the two countries, but he did not elaborate. "This is a difficult issue," he said.

Meanwhile, reliable sources have told US television CBS that in parallel with its decision to provide Ukraine with new weapons, the Trump administration is also planning to impose more sanctions on Russia's oil, gas and banking sectors. The sources said that the move could be described as new US sanctions against Russia.

Considering all of this, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that he agrees with the idea of a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, but on the condition that steps are taken to show goodwill and that the cessation of hostilities leads to a lasting peace and that all of Moscow's concerns are taken into account.

President Putin said this on Thursday evening, his first official response to the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.

In one part of his remarks, Putin said: "We agree to a 30-day ceasefire on the condition that this measure brings lasting peace and eliminates the roots of the conflict."

The Presidents of Russia and the United States

At the same time, however, the Russian President issued a stern warning to Ukrainian troops in Kursk, saying: "You have only two choices; either surrender or be killed."

Elaborating on his terms, President Putin said: "If we stop the fighting for 30 days, will that mean that all Ukrainian forces will leave Kursk? We cannot let them remain after they have committed so many crimes."

The Russian president has gone further and said: "I can call Trump to talk to him about a ceasefire. If the US and Russia reach an agreement on energy cooperation, a gas pipeline could also be available for the European Union countries."

Analysts say that, if it were not for the support of Western powers led by the United States for the puppet government in Kyiv, the war in Ukraine would have ended long ago. Currently, the US president also seems to be continuing the same policy of using sanctions and pressure as a means to achieve his goals. Trump's move to equip Ukraine with new weapons to confront Russia while at the same time claiming that he wants peace and an end to the war in Ukraine is a continuation of the same arrogant US policy.
