Report: Little success of UN peacekeepers in Africa in 2023
It is stated that, the peacekeeping forces of the United Nations have achieved little success in the year ending 2023.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, peacekeepers fought with civilians and had to leave the country. And that is not the only African country they are leaving. Reports say that the peacekeeping missions of the United Nations have struggled in 2023 to protect civilians and achieved little success in bringing stability to the countries where they operate, especially in Africa. In countries like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, DRC, South Sudan, Mali and the Central African Republic, CAR, the United Nations troops have achieved very little success contrary to expectations. According to some analysts, the United Nations forces operating under strict guidelines are overburdened in some of those countries. A clear example is Mali, where the security situation is not stable because day by day the violence seems to be getting worse," Adib Saani, director of the Center for Human Security and Peace Building of Jatikay, told the news circles. He added that, it seems as if the UN mission is helpless." For analysts like Saani, the recent poor performance of the United Nations mission in some parts of Africa is disappointing. " They have repeatedly failed to deal with the cycle of violence in those countries and the very reason it was introduced in the first place," Saani said.
