 On Wednesday, New York time, Russia , China , the UAE and Gabon voted in favor of the draft resolution proposed by Russia, while the US and UK voted against it, and nine others Security Council members abstained. In its proposal, Russia called for an immediate ceasefire , the creation of a humanitarian corridor , the release of all prisoners of war , and the revocation of the Zionist government of Israel's order to evacuate residents of the northern Gaza Strip from the area . On the same day, Russia and China also vetoed a resolution proposed by the United States to the Security Council regarding the war between the Palestinian resistance and Israel . The UAE also voted against the resolution. Ten members of the Security Council voted in favor, while two other members abstained.

The draft resolution proposed by the United States included full support for Israel and opposition to the Palestinians. Ambassador Nebenzha of Russia Ambassador Nebenzha of Russia, a permanent member of the Security Council , said, ``The resolution proposed by the United States is tantamount to the Security Council's green light for Israel to continue its attacks on Gaza.'' China's ambassador to the United Nations also said, ``The US draft justifies the use of force and weapons against civilians in Gaza.'' Although the resolution deals with sending humanitarian aid to Gaza, it does not mention stopping Israeli attacks and crimes against Gazan civilians.

In this regard, Haniya, the political director of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, said in a statement that Russia and China's positions in the Security Council, as well as the United States' veto of a resolution supporting Israel, deserve recognition. Mr. Haniyeh also thanked all Security Council members and other countries for calling for an immediate end to attacks and crimes against the Gaza population. He also called on the international community to oblige Israel to respect the human rights of the Palestinian people, especially those in Gaza, and to comply with international and humanitarian law and United Nations resolutions.

United Nations
