The Nigerian court convicts 125 militants of the terrorist group Boko Haram
Nigeria's Attorney General's office said the charges against the men were "related to terrorism, the financing of terrorism, providing material support, and crimes classified by the International Criminal Court ICC". The joint case heard for two days was conducted by five judges of the Federal High Court in the military detention center in the town of Kanji in Niger State.

Thousands of people have been killed and millions of others have been displaced since the insurgency and attacks by the Boko Haram terrorist group began in 2009.
The attacks of the group of extortionists have caused a dire humanitarian situation in northeastern Nigeria and made the government face pressure to end the crisis.

85 of the 125 defendants were convicted of financing terrorism, 22 of ICC-classified crimes, and the remaining defendants were found guilty of terrorism offenses; and all of them were sentenced to different sentences.

The last trials of people suspected of being members of Boko Haram were conducted between 2017 and 2018, where 163 people were found guilty and 887 were acquitted.

In 2014, the terrorist group Boko Haram kidnapped more than 270 girls from a school in the northeastern town of Chibok.

More than 180 girls have been released or escaped but others are still missing.

Those who have returned to their homes, some of them having become pregnant and giving birth while being held by Boko Haram, are facing many problems in their communities.../
