According to CNN news agency, Karine Jean-Pierre reported that the Pentagon announced a new package of support for Ukraine, which is estimated at $425 million. She said that while the government could use the authority of the US president to send additional weapons to Ukraine without congressional approval and meet Kiev's "urgent military needs," the US has begun to reduce this type of special support in order to continue supporting the country for a longer period of time. Citing this, Pierre asked the US Congress to send a signal to the world that the United States stands with Ukraine by approving President Joe Biden's double budget request. Last month, the Biden administration asked US lawmakers to approve a security package worth about $100 billion. But many Republican figures have accused Biden of "lacking a clear strategic vision" for the war in Ukraine and oppose doubling support for Ukraine, and have called for greater oversight of how those funds are spent in Ukraine.
