World Fencing Championships, Kuwaiti athlete withdraws in order not to compete against Israel

Kuwaiti fencer Abdulaziz Alshatti withdrew from the 2023 Epee World Cup in Istanbul, Turkey, to avoid having to compete against an Israeli opponent.The gesture is a manifestation of support and solidarity with the Palestinian people and at the same time it is a clear refusal to normalize with the Zionist entity.

The 32-year-old Alshatti withdrew from competing in Istanbul when he found out he was facing an Israeli competitor."I withdrew from the tournament due to the presence of a representative of the Zionist entity in my group," Alshatti wrote in an Arabic-language post posted on his Instagram page. He added:“My trust in God knows no bounds. Most High will take us in her hands to bless. Her generosity does not delay, but comes at the right time ”.
