SANAA - The United States is trying to disrupt efforts to establish a nationwide peace across impoverished Yemen This was warned by the head of Yemen's Supreme Political Council (SPC), Mahdi al-Mashat, following recent direct talks between representatives of the Yemeni resistance movement Ansarallah which controls power in Sanaa and the Saudi authorities. Mashat also stressed that Washington does not welcome the resolution of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, recognized by the United Nations as the worst in the world. “Prolonging the disaster would not benefit either the interests of the Saudi government or the West Asia (Middle East) region.” The Yemeni official then urged the Saudi kingdom not to give in to US pressure. "Surrendering to Washington's demands would bring nothing but destruction and instability."
