Amnesty International: Israel must end its brutal occupation

Israel's occupation of Palestine is the longest military occupation and one of the deadliest in the world, Amnesty International's Secretary General has said. In her statement today, Amnesty International Secretary General "Agnes Callamard" called for an end to Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory, describing it as "barbaric". On Amnesty International's website, the Secretary-General wrote: "Israel must end its brutal occupation, system of apartheid and systematic human rights violations in the West Bank, including Gaza and East Jerusalem, since 1967." Callamard also called on all countries to review their relations with Israel to ensure an end to the occupation and system of apartheid. Amnesty International's Secretary General also emphasized: "The occupation of Palestine is the longest military occupation and one of the deadliest military occupations in the world. It has also led to the stabilization and consolidation of the apartheid regime imposed on the Palestinians." Referring to the crimes of the occupiers in Gaza, Callamard noted that despite the decision of the International Criminal Court regarding the imminent danger of genocide in Gaza, these crimes continue, which are the result of Israel's long-term impunity.

Demonstrations against the occupation regime, Israel, and support for Gaza were held in the USA and England. Activists gathered in Washington chanted slogans: "Ceasefire in Gaza, right now." In London, protesters marched to the Israeli embassy building. Thousands of people gathered in Washington, the US capital, walked to the Congress building despite the freezing cold and called for an "immediate ceasefire in Gaza". The crowded group met at noon in the Chinatown area of the city center and walked to the front of the Congress building, following Pennsylvania Avenue. While the demonstrators were carrying banners supporting Palestine, they also chanted slogans such as "Gaza will be reborn, Palestine will never die", "Freedom for Palestine", "Ceasefire in Gaza, right now". Mohammad Qasim, a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement, said, "Israel's genocide has passed 130 days, we immediately took to the streets for a ceasefire, we demand that the USA stop funding Israel." In London, the capital of England, demonstrators gathered at Marble Arch, one of the busiest spots in the city, to support Palestine, and then marched to the Israeli Embassy in London. Carrying banners saying "Free Palestine", "Israel is an apartheid state", "Stop the genocide" and "Palestinian lives matter", the demonstrators called for Britain to end its support for Israel.
