Armenia-Turkey relations are entering a new phase

In the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, both sides have the perception that a new phase is emerging for the relations between the countries, which is not far away in terms of time. RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan said this while referring to the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations.

" I met with Numan Kurtulmush, President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, in Ashgabat. There was a very short interaction, but it was the same conversation again. it was about living in peace, opening the borders and establishing diplomatic relations," the RA president elaborated, emphasizing that the topic of conversation between the parties at different levels is the same, and in that sense there are no disagreements between the different wings of the government on both sides.

According to Khachaturyan, both sides do not miss the opportunity to have meetings, communicate and discuss issues related to the settlement.

" This indicates that the settlement of Armenia-Turkey relations may become a reality in the foreseeable future. it concerns both the opening of the borders and the establishment of diplomatic relations", said Khachaturyan, reminding that now on the agenda is an issue that can be implemented in a much shorter time, related to the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border for citizens of third countries and persons with diplomatic passports. .

To remind, Yerevan and Ankara announced in December 2021 that they are ready to take clear steps to normalize relations, and appointed special representatives on both sides. Ankara to the former ambassador of Turkey in Washington, Serdar Kılıç, and Armenia to the deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan.
