The number of Palestinian children orphaned by Israel's 471-day genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has reached more than 36,000, with approximately 14,000 women left after their husbands were killed following brutal Israeli attacks and bombings in the strip.

The Director of the Information Department at the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Zaher Al-Wahidi, said that 36,569 children have lost one of their parents, leaving them orphans .

He said the figures reflect the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe that has befallen thousands of Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip .

Al-Wahidi also said that the Israeli invasion "caused 13,901 Palestinian women to lose their husbands and become widows," according to information he gave to Anadolu Agency .

The Director of the Information Department at the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip stressed that, "these figures are clear evidence of the level of suffering of the people of Gaza, which requires everyone to work urgently to alleviate the suffering of orphans and affected families and rebuild their lives on the basis of human dignity ."

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the Government of Qatar announced the success of efforts to halt the fighting in the Gaza Strip between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, and that the agreement came into effect on Sunday, January 19, 2025, to end more than 15 months of brutal war and the genocide of more than 46,000 people carried out by the Israeli Zionist army in Gaza .
