Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan froze Sweden's expectations of Ankara's ok for the Nordic country to join NATO. “Sweden expects a positive approach from Turkey regarding NATO membership,” Erdogan said, “these expectations of Sweden do not mean that we will respect them. In order for us to meet these expectations, Sweden must first of all fulfill its duty."

“The government has decided that the Swedish military may undertake preparations with NATO and allied countries to enable future joint operations,” Kristersson and Jonson said. “The preparations may consist of a temporary base for foreign equipment and personnel on Swedish territory. The decision sends a clear signal to Russia and strengthens Sweden's defence,” explained the two executive representatives.
