Occupied territories, mass protests after Eshed's resignation

Several thousand demonstrators occupied a major Tel Aviv artery, the Ayalon, in solidarity with the city's police chief Ami Eshed, who has come into conflict with national security minister Itamar Ben Gvir, leader of the far-right 'Jewish Power' party , and effectively ousted from the police. The Tel Aviv police chief, after 33 years of service, has controversially resigned, attributing, among other things, the decision to his constant refusal to "smash heads and break bones" of those who participated in the demonstrations against the regime.
