Pope calls for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza
The head of the Catholic Church once again called for the release of the hostages and the admission of humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip.
More than two weeks have passed since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. During this period, the bombing of residential areas and public spaces, on the one hand, and the cutting off of water and electricity, as well as severe shortages of food and medicine, on the other hand, created a very critical situation for the residents of Gazan. "There are families who cannot be reached and are probably dying of hunger," said Abeer Atifa, spokeswoman for the UN World Food Program in Egypt.
According to Reuters, the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, said during his weekly speech: “I turn my thoughts to the difficult situation in Palestine and Israel. I call for the release of the hostages and the opening of access for humanitarian aid to Gaza.” The head of the Catholic Church also mentioned that he was going to pray for peace tomorrow, Friday. The resolution proposed by Russia and Brazil to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was not adopted by the UN Security Council. Three permanent members of the Security Council voted against it, i.e. USA, Britain and France.
