Pope: The logic of war is absurd and our hearts are in Bethlehem
Pope Francis, the leader of the world's Catholics, called for peace in his speech on the occasion of the start of Christmas celebrations, saying that the "logic of war" was absurd.
According to AFP, he said the following in his speech at the Vatican's Saint Peter church on Sunday: “Tonight our hearts are in Bethlehem, where the Prince of Peace has once again been carried away by the absurd logic of war and armed conflict, and even today there is no room left in the world.” In this speech, the Pope repeatedly touched upon war and violence, but did not mention Israel and Gaza. At another ceremony on Saturday, he said: "We stand with our war-victim brothers and sisters. We think about Palestine, Israel and Ukraine." Pope Francis has repeatedly called for an end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip and for guaranteeing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. Recently, the Pope once again called for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" in Gaza and an end to these "great sufferings" and said, "Please say no to weapons, yes to peace." he said.
