Russia celebrates the anniversary of Gagarin's journey into space
Russian Communist Party officials celebrate the 62nd anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space journey. On April 12, 1961, the Soviet astronaut was the first man to fly into space, aboard Vostok 1, a feat that allowed the USSR to arrive before the United States to reach the prestigious milestone. Communist militants lay flowers at Gagarin's grave on the Kremlin wall on Red Square in Moscow.
