USA: 'Trump: I'm running again even if convicted'

Trump has vowed he will "never quit" the 2024 White House race despite him being indicted on 34 counts, and insisted President Joe Biden is unable to run again. Interviewed by Fox News, the former US president said that nothing would prevent him from running for the US presidency, not even a conviction. "I would never retire," he said: "It's not my style. I wouldn't."

Donald Trump's indictment, with its "pro forma" arrest kit, fingerprints and mug shot, is a torpedo that hits the ex-president tycoon's Republican nomination campaign below the water line and sinks it. No, the indictment is a boost of positive energy: it gives Trump visibility, if he ever needs it, and an aura of persecution, which he really lacked; brings him money; and, above all, he puts his Republican rivals, already declared or potential, in difficulty, because he forces them, for the time being, to line up in defense of him.
