The conflict in Sudan has caused 4.8 million citizens to leave their homes
The United Nations has said that the ongoing fierce fighting between the Sudanese Army (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has forced millions of people in the country to leave their homes. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said in its new report that, as of August 29, the fighting had already made 4.8 million people refugees inside and outside the country. OCHA has said that the crisis has led to 3 million people becoming internally displaced persons (IIDPs), while more than one million others cross borders and take refuge in neighboring countries. The fighting in Sudan that broke out on April 15 this year, apart from killing more than 3,000 people, has also caused a large wave of people to become internal refugees and others to flee to neighboring countries including South Sudan.
According to the UN Office of Humanitarian Affairs, the fighting has forced 169,060 people to flee to the neighboring country of South Sudan. The UN says the number of refugees arriving in South Sudan from Sudan is predicted to continue to increase due to the fact that the internal conflict in Sudan has not yet been resolved. Fighting in Khartoum In another step, Sudan's Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has announced the opening of the border between the country and its neighbor Eritrea. Al-Burhan announced this yesterday Saturday after visiting the Red Sea and Kasala states in the east of the country, where he emphasized that the government forces will continue to face the RSF.
