Group of migrants protest in Tunis in front of the IOM headquarters
A group of refugees and asylum seekers from various African countries protested today in front of the headquarters of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tunisia "to ask for evacuation from Tunisia and relocation to a safe country".
In particular, writes the NGO Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, these are citizens of "Sudan, Central Africa, Chad, Ethiopia, and Somalia". Today's protest comes after the eviction of a month-long sit-in in front of the headquarters of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) at Lac in Tunis, again for the same reasons.
According to the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, Tunisia, a country of 12 million inhabitants, has more than 21,000 nationals of sub-Saharan African countries.
