In its statement, the famous newspaper has indicated the concern it received due to the increase in negative feelings and derogatory positions within the platform, which it has said has overshadowed the benefits that the network previously had as a tool for journalistic participation and inclusion of readers.
The Guardian's decision has been announced amid a crackdown on X users, which was witnessed during the US presidential election.
The leading newspaper in the UK has cited an increase in dangerous content being discussed on the X network, including trends in far-right 'conspiracy theories' and incidents of racism, as reasons why it decided to withdraw from the social network.
Elon Musk, who became the owner of X in 2022, since then has been looking only superficially at the changes that The Guardian newspaper believes contribute to spreading a toxic and dangerous environment for the media, which has a strong influence on political preaching.
The Guardian has stressed that it will no longer use any of its official editorial accounts on X but users on the platform will be able to continue to distribute its articles.
