Mexico's response to "Trump": The name of the Gulf of Mexico will not change

Mexico has heeded Donald Trump's demands and told him clearly that the name of the Gulf of Mexico will never change to "Gulf of the Americas."

Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico's Economy Minister, spoke to reporters on Wednesday and said that Trump's plots to change history will not succeed. 

The Mexican Foreign Minister has emphasized that: "If we look back 30 years, the Gulf of Mexico has always been called the Gulf of Mexico, we will not enter into this debate. What we want to do is protect the relationship between the two countries."

Previously, responding to Trump's threats to impose tariffs on goods imported from Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard has stressed the need to maintain calm and declared that Mexico is a sovereign country and should not be influenced by the provocations of the US president-elect.
