More than 82 million people suffer from food shortages in East and Central Africa

The report added that most of the 82.2 million people live in the IGAD community, while 54.7 million are scattered in various parts of Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Ethiopia.
The report of the two regional and international organizations added that: "Conflicts continue to be the main cause of the food crisis in eastern Africa, with approximately 39 million people living in the IGAD community region suffering from severe food shortages. The conflicts have caused destruction infrastructure, completely losing the main sources of food and income and increasing problems for people who have been suffering from various conflicts for many years.
The institutes have found that war and bad weather and climate change such as floods and droughts which are now worse and occur frequently, are among the main causes of food shortages in those areas.
The member countries of IGAD which are Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda have more than 29 million people who have fled their homes, most of them are in Sudan due to the power struggle between military generals.
