Security Council Request to Stop Violence in Sudan
The Security Council called on the conflicting parties in Sudan to end violence and conflict and protect civilians.According to the Sputnik news agency, the UN Security Council on Saturday called for more humanitarian aid to Sudan and neighboring countries, protection of rescuers and respect for international law.
The Security Council also called on the Sudanese army and rapid reaction forces to stop fighting and protect civilians.The UN Secretary General also called the situation in Sudan very alarming and stressed: Attacks on civilians in Sudan are crimes against humanity. Sudan is in the grip of unprecedented killing and destruction.
António Guterres added: “There is no water or electricity in many areas. We support the African Union's efforts to resolve the crisis in Sudan." The World Health Organization also announced: Two-thirds of the health centers and hospitals in the affected areas are no longer operational, putting the lives of millions of people at risk.
Since April 15, more than 2,000 people have been killed and more than two million Sudanese have been displaced after clashes broke out between the army and the Sudanese Rapid Reaction Force.
