Terrorist attack in front of Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul
Two terrorists, who were said to be DHKP/C members and attempted to attack the checkpoint at Çağlayan Courthouse, were neutralized. In the attack, 1 person died and 5 people, including 3 police officers, were injured.
A gun was fired at the police checkpoint in front of the Istanbul Palace of Justice in Çağlayan. In the incident, according to initial findings, 2 attackers, one of whom was a woman, were neutralized, while 6 people, including 3 police officers, were injured. Upon hearing gunshots, those in front of the courthouse fled into the building, while those inside the courthouse lay on the ground. Upon notice, many police and medical teams were dispatched to the region. While gate C of the courthouse, located near the square, was closed due to the incident, intense security measures were taken around the courthouse by police teams. In addition, the police helicopter also supports the measures from the air. The injured police officers and citizens were taken to the hospital by medical teams who arrived at the scene. It was learned that the general health condition of the injured police officers was good. Dilfiraz Karataş, who was seriously injured in the attack, died despite all the interventions made in the hospital where he was taken. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that one of those injured in the terrorist attack on the security point in front of Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse died. Erdoğan spoke about the attack as follows: " I wish our justice community and our people to get well soon for the terrorist attack that took place in Çağlayan Courthouse. I congratulate our security forces who eliminated the treacherous attack with their timely intervention. Two terrorists, one a woman and the other a man, were neutralized by our police officers before they could achieve their nefarious goals. During the investigation, it was determined that the neutralized attackers were Pınar Birkoç and Emrah Yayla, members of the terrorist organization DHKP/C.
