ECOWAS Troops Standby on Border to Attack Niger
The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS has begun placing troops on the borders of Benin and Niger. Local media sources, Monday (11/9/2023) reported that ECOWAS had started to place its troops on the border of Benin and Niger, at the Malanville location. According to media sources, the entry of ECOWAS troops into the area near the Niger border, via Cotonou, the capital of Benin, took place several days ago.
Most of the ECOWAS troops stationed on the Niger border consist of troops from three African countries, namely Ivory Coast, Senegal and Benin. On the other hand, Niger troops are moving military equipment to the country's border area with Benin, in anticipation of a surprise ECOWAS attack. The Prime Minister of Niger, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, announced last Monday that his country would respond to all forms of attacks by foreign forces. (HS)
