As soon as the first bus carrying the released Palestinians arrived in Ramallah, six of the released Palestinians were rushed to the hospital due to their critical condition.
The Palestinian Red Crescent announced the news, saying that the six hostages released on Saturday were rushed to hospital for treatment due to their critical physical conditions. Palestinian media reported that one of the six hostages transferred to the hospital was Hamas leader Jamal al-Tuwail.
Jamal al-Tuwail's daughter also confirmed the news to the media, adding that Israeli prison guards beat her father until minutes before he was released and handed over to representatives of the Red Cross. Signs of severe torture are clearly visible on his body.
Yesterday morning, minutes before the release of the Hamas leader, brutal Israeli soldiers raided his home in the town of Al-Bireh and tortured his family members.
Shadi al-Barghouthi, another freed Palestinian, told reporters on Saturday after enduring 22 years in prison and arriving in Ramallah to hug his father: "We have endured difficult and terrifying conditions in the prisons of the occupier (Israel). Even shortly before our release, we continued to be tortured and abused by the occupier (Israeli) forces. They denied us the right to medical treatment inside the prison."
This independent Palestinian is the son of Fakhri al-Barghouthi, one of the Resistance commanders who was also recently released after serving a 33-year prison sentence as part of the fruits of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.
